Everything But
We go through a lot of trouble to try and like someone “like that.”
Mantra-like, we repeat their positive qualities to ourselves and maybe even our friends: they’re fun, they’re hot, I love how excited they are about sending motivating letters to prisoners, they always say “yes!” to my weird ideas, and we laugh a lot.
Except what we’re not saying is, “I’m into them.” In fact, we’re saying everything but.
It can start to feel like potential partners are walking pro/con lists, making it hard to decide how we feel. But here’s the thing: no matter how long the pro side is, if you list I don’t know under cons, then you actually know.
Worried you’ll forget in the future? Take a reminder in the immortal words of Biggie: And if you don’t know, now you know.
