National Food Truck Date Day – Tomorrow!

The following is a repost from Jeanna (one of my dating blog cohorts). She has deemed tomorrow National Food Truck Date Day. Find out why, and how you can participate, below. February 14th – that sounds familiar. What day is that again? Oh yeah – Valentine’s Day. The day that seems to be hated more and more each passing year, and by everyone,according to SF Weekly.

Here’s what I hate – Valentine’s Day leaves couples and singles feeling broke, bored and bummed. There’s a lot of bemoaning about needing to “prove” your love one contrite day a year, and a lot of sulking and sad feelings if you don’t have someone to line your stairway with rose petals, stand outside your window with a boombox, or cook you dinner, naked, in an Italian David statue apron (happened to me once, true story).

So I thought to myself – why not motivate everyone to change this negative Valentine’s Day sentiment around?

I’ve had a ton of fun with changing MY attitude toward dating by doing low-key and fun Food Truck Dates, so why don’t we make February 14th National Food Truck Day instead of V-Day!?

I’m picturing a day where your honey, blind date, friends with benefits, or BFFs can all come together for a little food truck grub and a fun, stress-free time – no more negative Meh Valentine’s Day thoughts.

I envisioning a big ole fun MOVEMENT. I want to crowdsource dates from across the nation and make one short, fun little video of it all! It might start out small this year, but then maybe it’ll grow and grow… change starts with one little seed! And I want to change February 14th around for everyone. <3

Help me out, lovers! I’d love for you to do a quick and dirty, fun and easy, Food Truck Date sometime next week in the name of Valentine’s Day National Food Truck Date Day. This date can be with a boyfriend, husband, OKCupid blind date, BFF, friend with benefits – ANYONE you want. All I ask is you send me some sort of media from your date! This can be anything you’d like, but here are some ideas:

• A photo of you and your date, the food truck, your grub, etc. Use #NtlFTDDay if you post it to Instagram (my fav!)
• A Tweet that says what you’re doing, who you’re with, any fun detail from your date. (Use the #NtlFTDDay hashtag! And if you remember to tag @the50dates, I’d love you forever).
• A mini video clip with your date, or thoughts before/after the date, etc.

Choose what you want to say and do, or answer any of the following prompts:

1. Where did you and your date meet?
2. What do you love most about your date?
3. What did you think of the food truck?
4. Why do you love the idea of National Food Truck Day instead of Valentine’s Day?

Last and final step – I’d love you to help me spread the word in any way you can!
